What is ModNest?
ModNest is a Windows app that organizes your Sims 4 Mods folder. It sorts your CC into folders by what's inside each file, imports new downloads, moves broken and duplicate files out safely, and finds the mod that stops the game from starting.
How much does ModNest cost?
ModNest is a members' download in the $7.99 tier of my Patreon (KatieMartin236). Every update is included, so you never pay again for a new version.
Does ModNest work on Mac?
Not yet. ModNest works on Windows 10 and 11 only. A Mac version is coming soon.
Will ModNest delete my mods?
No. ModNest never deletes anything. Broken and duplicate files go to a Quarantine folder, old versions of updated mods are kept in Quarantine\Replaced Versions, and Undo last run puts everything back.
Windows says "Windows protected your PC". Is ModNest safe?
That message is normal for new apps from small creators that aren't code-signed yet. Click More info, then Run anyway. Preview shows every move before anything happens, and ModNest never deletes anything.
I already bought ModNest 1.0. Do I pay again for 1.1?
No! Download the new zip from the same Patreon post. Every update is included in the $7.99 tier.
Can ModNest find the mod that makes the game say "Unable to start"?
Yes. Find Bad Mod parks your suspect files outside the Mods folder and halves them every time you launch the game. In a few launches it finds the one file causing it, moves it out, and puts everything else back.
I used a different mod manager before. Will ModNest work?
Yes. Mods another manager turned off (.packageOFF and .ts4scriptOFF files) show up in My Mods as "off". Just click Turn on.
Can I turn mods off without deleting them?
Yes. In My Mods, Turn off moves a mod to a _Mods Turned Off folder next to your Mods folder, in the same sub-folders. Turn on puts it back. You can save which mods are off as a Mod Set and switch sets in one click.
Which CC do my saves actually use?
Check my saves in My Mods looks at your saves and Library and marks each CAS and Build/Buy item as Used or Not used. Gameplay and script mods are never marked "not used".
I'm new to mods. Can I still use ModNest?
Yes! The first time you click Organize now, ModNest sets up all your folders for you, including Resource.cfg.
Is ModNest made by EA?
No. ModNest is a fan-made tool and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts.
How do I report a bug or suggest a feature?
Use Send Feedback inside the app. It sends your message and the app version straight to me, so I can fix things fast!
